BATON ROUGE (AP) — Six Louisiana schools have been recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools by the U.S. Department of Education.
Pearl Watson Elementary in Lake Charles is the only Southwest Louisiana school to earn the honor.
The Department of Education recognizes schools based on their overall academic excellence or for making progress in improving student achievement levels.
The other schools on the list are: Ella Dolhonde Elementary School and Haynes Academy School for Advanced Studies, in Metairie, Lake Forest Elementary Charter School in New Orleans, Morehouse Magnet School in Bastrop and Most Blessed Sacrament School, a Catholic elementary school in Baton Rouge.

Didnt Pearl Watson get the grade of D in the 2012-2013 school report?
This "blue ribbon" is obviously political and/or lacks real results.
