Officials probe fire near plant south of Sulphur

SULPHUR (AP) — Authorities in Calcasieu Parish are working to determine the cause of an early morning tractor-trailer fire south of Sulphur.

It was reported around 5 a.m. Friday near the Chemical Waste Management Plant off La. 108.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, the Carlyss Fire Dept., a state hazardous materials team, and Calcasieu emergency officials are investigating the incident.

They are working to find out the cause of the fire, what burned and whether the fire had posed a threat to residents.
