Struggling Cowboys host Warhawks Tuesday night

The McNeese baseball team, which has lost four straight, returns home for a non-conference game against Louisiana-Monroe Tuesday.

Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.

The Cowboys (17-13) have been outscored 30-11 in their last four games, all on the road. The Warhawks (13-19), who have won three of their last four games, beat McNeese 17-8 in Monroe on March 5.

UL-Monroe will send junior right-hander Christo Jones (0-0, 5.14 ERA) to the mound while a starter for McNeese has yet to be determined.

McNeese is led by left fielder Jackson Gooch, who is hitting .336 with 10 doubles, one triple, three home runs and 26 RBIs. Gooch has a 20-game hitting streak, the fourth-best active streak in the nation. Shortstop Connor Lloyd is hitting .333 with 31 hits, three doubles and 13 RBIs.

The Cowboys are hitting .273 with 53 doubles, nine triples, 10 home runs and 22 steals. The pitching staff has a 4.34 ERA with 171 strikeouts and a .264 opponent batting average.

ULM is hitting .233 with 51 doubles, three triples, 17 home runs and 125 RBIs. The Warhawks’ pitching staff has a 4.82 ERA with 182 strikeouts and a .292 opponent batting average.

The Warhawks are led by first baseman Corben Green, who is batting .304 with 35 hits, two doubles, three home runs and 16 RBIs.

It will be the 145th meeting between the teams. The Cowboys hold a 76-68-1 series advantage.””
