SHREVEPORT (AP) — Caddo Parish Coroner Todd Thoma says a 3-year-old girl who was found dead inside of car Friday died of a heat stroke.
However, Thoma has yet to rule if her death was accidental.
The Times reported Shreveport police were called to the mother’s house just after 4:30 p.m., where the car was parked in the driveway.
Investigators say the girl may have been in the car for as many as 19 hours before her mother came out as she was heading to work and discovered the child.
The mother has been questioned by police as the investigation continues.
Temperatures reached a high of 93 in Shreveport on Friday, and officials say temperatures inside a vehicle can be more than 50 degrees higher when the windows are rolled up.
