SEC honors McCarron, Ferguson, Scott

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron, LSU defensive end Ego Ferguson and Mississippi return man/running back Jeff Scott are the Southeastern Conference players of the week.

The league announced the winners on Monday.

McCarron passed for a career-high 334 yards and four touchdowns in Alabama’s win over Texas A&M, including the decisive 5-yard TD pass to Jalston Fowler with 2:28 left.

Ferguson had a career-high eight tackles and a sack in LSU’s win over Kent State.

Scott returned a punt 73 yards for a touchdown and had 243 all-purpose yards to help Ole Miss beat Texas.

Arkansas running back Alex Collins is the freshman of the week.

Lineman honors went to South Carolina center Clayton Stadnik and Arkansas defensive end Chris Smith.””
