Muzic Unlimited performs for Jennings Stars and Stripes

JENNINGS — The city of Jennings will hold its 22nd annual Stars and Stripes Celebration on Wednesday, July 3 at the Louisiana Oil and Gas Park.

Thousands are expected to attend the pre-patriotic salute which begins at 4 p.m. with live music, fun jumps, a 27 foot high water slide. food booths and merchandise vendors.

“This is just about all American as you can get,” city project coordinator Michelle Hebert said.

The family oriented event will feature fun jumps,

“There’s something for everyone,” Hebert said. “The music, if you like Cajun we definitely have that but Muzic Unlimited plays a little bit of everything.”

“And it’s a blast for the kids with the fun jumps and water slides.”

Children should bring their swimsuits and towels.

Live entertainment begins at 4:30 p.m. with Muzic Unlimited, followed by the introduction of visiting royalty at 6:30 p.m.

High Performance featuring Steve Riley and Jamey Bearb will take the stage at 7 p.m.

Special guest will be Breanne Davis, a Jennings High School singer, who will sing the national anthem.

Festival foods will include hot dogs, corn dogs, meat pies, red beans, onions, barbecue burgers, chicken, shrimp, funnel cakes, ice cream, snowcones and more.

Vendors will also be selling clothing items, light up novelties, purses and more.

LifeShare Blood Centers will also hold a blood drive.

The evening concludes at 9 p.m. with one of the biggest fireworks in the state, she said.

“You get a lot of bang for your buck,” Hebert said.

No ice chests or alcohol will be allowed in the park.

Admission is $3 per person ages 13 and older; children ages 12 and under get in free.

The event is sponsored by the city of Jennings, the Jeff Davis Parish Tourist Commission and the Jennings Festival Association.
