Kim Myers, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, said on Thursday that three men forced their way into a home in the 2600 block of North Perkins Ferry Road Wednesday morning, shot a victim in the arm and leg, and then fled on foot with cash and several items to a nearby getaway car.

The victim, said Sheriff Tony Mancuso, is expected to fully recover from his wounds.

According to Mancuso, two Moss Bluff men – Austin Jones, 17, of 688 Sioux Drive, and Deante Schuffer, 18, 260 Armistead Lane – were taken into custody Wednesday afternoon. He said that Jones turned himself in to the CPSO and a short time later, Shuffer was located on Anita Drive in Lake Charles.

Mancuso stated that there was “no prior criminal history” that he could speak on concerning Jones and Schuffer. But he emphasized that they are “facing some serious charges now” including attempted first-degree murder, armed robbery and armed robbery with a the use of a firearm. Judge Clayton Davis set their bonds at $1.2 million each.

Mancuso said that the third suspect has been identified as Christopher W. Jones, II, 22, who he says has a criminal history involving drugs, burglary and possession of stolen property along with aggravated battery and weapon charges.

“He just got out of the Calcasieu Correctional Center in June, and I would consider him armed and dangerous at this time,” said Mancuso.

He encouraged Jones to turn himself in and cautioned anyone helping or harboring him that authorities will also charge them with a crime as well.

Mancuso said that Christopher Jones will also be charged with attempted first-degree murder, armed robbery and armed robbery with a firearm and that his bond has also been set at $1.2 million.
