A single-vehicle wreck has claimed the life of a Lake Charles man, authorities said.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said 58-year-old Larry J. Hicks, 2331 Power Center Park, Apt. 601, died at a local hospital around 9:20 p.m. Saturday.

Myers said sheriff’s investigators believe Hicks was fatally injured after his westbound vehicle left the roadway in the 7300 block of McCown Road, ran into a ditch and hit a culvert.

A toxicology report will be performed on Hicks, which is standard procedure in fatal wrecks, Myers said.

Cpl. Luke Pierrotti is the lead investigator of this accident.
