GREENSBURG (AP) — A St. Helena Parish grand jury has indicted Livingston Parish School Board President Malcolm Sibley in a hit-and-run crash that left a 21-year-old Mississippi man dead.

Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell’s office says Sibley, 66, of Walker, was charged Friday. If convicted, he faces up to six months in prison and a $500 fine.

Authorities say Sibley was driving northbound on La. 43, north of Greensburg, around 5 a.m. June 15 when he allegedly struck William Cody Iasigi, of Liberty, Miss.

Louisiana State Police later arrested Sibley for felony hit-and-run for not stopping. However, he was not found to be at fault. Troopers have said Iasigi had stopped and gotten out of his vehicle, which was probably across the road’s double yellow line.

Sibley’s arraignment is set for Nov. 8.
