The Democratic governor said he congratulated Trump on his victory and updated him on Louisiana’s recovery from two different floods this year. Trump last visited the state in August, meeting with victims after floodwaters wrecked southern parishes.
Edwards, who supported Hillary Clinton for president, said he appreciated Trump’s time Friday and had a “brief, but positive conversation about our state’s needs in order to complete the rebuilding process.”
He said Trump “expressed his love for our great state.”
Trump headlined a rally for Senate candidate John Kennedy ahead of Saturday’s election. Edwards said he and Trump agreed to meet again after the inauguration.
