BATON ROUGE (AP) — Baton Rouge police detectives are investigating the Saturday death of an 11-month-old child that has been ruled a homicide.

Lt. Don Kelly says an autopsy conducted Monday showed the infant died from blunt-force head trauma.

Kelly says Aaliyah Heard was unresponsive and rushed to Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City at 1:15 p.m. Friday before she was transferred later to the hospital’s Bluebonnet Boulevard campus. He says the child died at 11 a.m. Saturday.
