Police on Thursday were continuing an investigation of reports of windows being shot out in Lake Charles last week — the second rash of such shooting incidents in two months.

Deputy Chief Mark Kraus said the department is looking into 20 criminal property damage incidents that occurred Dec. 23-27 in central and south Lake Charles. He said several vehicle and business windows were damaged by an Airsoft, BB or pellet gun.

Detective Tim Pruitt said most of the incidents were reported in apartment complex parking lots near Fifth Avenue, and others were reported off of Kirkman and 12th streets. He said the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is also investigating some incidents that occurred outside city limits.

Pruitt said there were no reports of any items stolen from the vehicles.

Authorities are still investigating 61 reports of criminal property damage that occurred Nov. 24 and 25 in the Garden District. Just like in the recent incident, windows of several vehicles and businesses were shot out by an Airsoft, BB or pellet gun.

During the first incident, about $50,000 worth of damage was done. Kraus did not say how much the second round of vandalism would cost the victims.

Police are still searching for three male suspects thought to be involved in the November incident. They were last seen in a medium gray or silver 2009 to 2011 Chevrolet Malibu. The vehicle, with factory chrome rims, may be an LT edition and may have tinted windows.

Kraus said anyone with information on the case can call Pruitt and Kirk Farquhar at 491-1311 or Crime Stoppers at 439-2222.””
