Tonight, the Henning Cultural Center will be consumed by chaos.

The Chaos Theory Art Show, that is. Doors for the exhibit will open at 6 p.m.

“It started about six or seven years ago, and it was just ‘Chaos Theory,’ ” said Thom Trahan, executive director of the Henning Cultural Center.

“We had art of all different styles, mediums and themes. It wasn’t until the second year that we really banded it as a pop culture, movies, TV shows kind of theme, in the pop culture vein. The second year it blew up.”

Most of the artists featured in the show are from the Lake Area. Artists include John Davis from Iron Cypress Tattoos; Craig Cooley of Atomic Heart tattoos; Sean Hicks; Emily Boverie; Colton Kocemba; Johnny Segura; Jennifer Manuel; Kelli Sargent; Rob Phillips; Jenga Garcia; Ashley Royer; David McNeil; John Martel; Bill Elliott; Re Ratliff; and Jim Ferguson, a NASA video engineer who creates drawings based on movie stills.

“It was a different vein of art,” said Eric Manuel, creative director of the Henning Cultural Center on seeing the show for the first time.

“When I started working here and bringing in these different kinds of local artists that I knew from around town and went to school with, that didn’t have the traditional duck-and-marsh scenes. These were movie inspired, or they were comic book inspired. These were the kind of guys that were on the outside, so it became very important to us to give them the exposure that they needed.”

“This show is all about letting your nerd show,” Trahan said.

Subjects include the “Star Wars” series; the film “Ferris Buller’s Day Off”; the 1990s cartoons “Darkwing Duck” and “Animaniacs”; AMC’s “Breaking Bad”; and Cartoon Network’s “Adventure Time.”
