Beauregard Parish, named after Gen. Pierre G.T. Beauregard, was carved from Calcasieu Parish in 1912 and became its own entity in 1913. Most notable in the parish’s history is that women were given the right to vote in 1915; women in the rest of country got voting rights in 1920.””
