Applications for the firefighter competitive examination are being accepted through April 19.

Applications can be picked up 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday at the Fire Administration Office, 4200 Kirkman St., and completed applications are due back by 4 p.m. April 19.

Approved applicants will be notified within five days of the examination.

According to the Civil Service Board applicants must meet all requirements of the Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service Law, have a valid Louisiana driver’s license, must be 18 years or older, have high school diploma or equal certification issued by the state department of education, pass a medical examination and physical agility test.
