ALEXANDRIA (AP) — An Alexandria man has been booked with first-degree murder in connection with the death of a 13-month-old child.

Alexandria police tell The Town Talk (http://townta.lk/1heAo8g) the suspect, 26-year-old Donovan D. Matthews, was arrested Friday after police were called Thursday afternoon to a home where the child was found to be unresponsive.

Police say the toddler was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead.

Also arrested was 33-year-old Latasha Solitaire, who is booked with obstruction of justice.

This investigation is ongoing, and police are awaiting results of an autopsy and other forensic testing.

It was unclear whether Matthews and Solitaire have attorneys.
