The niece of a 66-year-old woman found dead in her Koonce Road home was arrested for murder Monday, authorities said.

Sarah F. Parker, 54, 980 Koonce Road, was arrested for second-degree murder. Judge Clayton Davis set bond at $1 million.

Sarah Parker called 911 to report her aunt’s death. She became a suspect after she told other people details of the murder, Mancuso said.

“She gave them information that only a person involved in this murder could know,” Mancuso said.

A motive has been established, as has been a cause of death, but Mancuso said he was not prepared to release those until the investigation is completed. Other arrests are expected, he said.

“If not the killer, (Sarah Parker) is certainly involved heavily,” Mancuso said. “We do believe that there are other people involved in this.”

The investigation has been complicated because many of the witnesses were drug users, the sheriff said.

Pamela Parker reportedly let four or five drug users stay in the shed behind her home. Relatives said she was also trying to help people, who took advantage of her. Her nephew said the people living in the shed were running a meth lab.

“Mrs. Parker was a very kind-hearted woman who would let people into her house,” Mancuso said. “Sometimes, they were not desirable people… It was very difficult to get some straight answers at some times.”

There was reportedly no sign of forced entry.(MGNonline)
