Several National Day of Prayer events have been scheduled today in Southwest Louisiana.
Evangelist turned comedian Dennis Swanberg will speak at the annual Profit N Loss National Day of Prayer Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. in the Lake Charles Civic Center.
Swanberg, known for his national television shows ‘‘Swan’s Place” and “The Dennis Swanberg Show,” uses humor and impersonations of celebrities to get across his message of being joyful and helping others.
• In Vinton, a National Day of Prayer event is scheduled at 9 a.m. today in the Vinton City Hall parking lot. The Emmanuel Christian Academy choir will sing a number of songs.
• In Kinder, a National Day of Prayer event will be held at noon today at the Allen Tunwar Pavilion at Lambert Park.
• In Cameron, a National Day of Prayer program will be held noon-1 p.m. on the Cameron Parish Courthouse Lawn. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Dennis Hubbard of First Sixth Street Baptist Church in Port Arthur, Texas.
