A Lake Charles man accused of killing his girlfriend’s stepfather Thursday afternoon was arrested by Lake Charles police in September 2009 for aggravated assault with a firearm.
Jonathan Jerome Guillory, 28, 2500 Smith Road, Lot 104, was also arrested by Sulphur police in September 2006 on drug charges.
Authorities said Guillory shot 43-year-old Felton Paul Boutte after an altercation Thursday.
While he was being arrested, Guillory told deputies that he acted out of self-defense then refused to give further details, according to the initial report.
The report says Boutte was found face down on the floor “with what appeared to be several small caliber, tightly grouped, gunshot wounds to the lower back of the torso.”
Boutte was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene.
When authorities arrived at the scene, several males were standing around a vehicle in the driveway, the report says. “The subject acted as if nothing was wrong and advised deputies of a shooting inside,” it reads.
Guillory was later arrested by the vehicle, the report says. A witness told deputies that an altercation broke out between Guillory and Boutte.
Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Thursday that an argument led to a fight that was broken up by family members.
While on the way to the scene, deputies were told that Boutte was shot with a “machine” gun, the report says, although it does not identify the type of gun used.
Guillory is being held in the Calcasieu Correctional Center on $500,000 bond.
The shooting is the parish’s first homicide of 2014.
