McNeese State will pay Southern $150,000 for its Aug. 31, 2019 trip to Lake Charles, according to a copy of the game contract obtained through an open records request by The American Press.
Making its first trip to Lake Charles in program history, Southern will be allotted 2,500 complimentary tickets, according to the contract. The schools played once in 2004 — a 35-18 McNeese win — and were scheduled to play again in 2005 at Cowboy Stadium.
Hurricane Katrina canceled that game and it was never made up. In its official release announcing the game last week, McNeese said this was not a rescheduling of that game.
McNeese will also provide Southern with 70 hotel rooms at a full-service hotel, according to an addendum both athletic directors signed last week.
Along with this game against Southern, McNeese’s 2019 schedule includes a trip to Big 12 power Oklahoma State and a home game against Alcorn State.
