Justin Hill is expected to be named as the 13th head baseball coach in McNeese State history at a news conference Friday morning at the Jack V. Doland Fieldhouse.

He replaces Terry Burrows, who resigned in May after six years at the helm.

The move was initially reported by a Monroe newspaper via Twitter, but was neither confirmed nor denied by sources at McNeese. The school only acknowledged that there will be an 11 a.m. new conference to introduce a new baseball coach.

Hill has spent the past two years as Louisiana-Monroe’s pitching coach, but comes to McNeese with deep Southland ties.

Hill was Southeastern Louisiana’s pitching coach and recruiting coordinator from 2008-11, and was an assistant at Sam Houston State in 2007. His one-year stint under Smoke Laval at LSU in 2006 was preceded by a two-year stay at Northwestern State, where the Demons reached the NCAA regionals in 2005.

The West Monroe native pitched at LSU for two years, and was named to the all-SEC academic team as a junior in 2001.
