A Wednesday report by Gannett Louisiana Newspapers indicated that McNeese State’s chances of landing Tyrann Mathieu are not good.
Mike Detillier, a football analyst for WWL Radio in New Orleans, was quoted as saying, “He did not like it at McNeese. The family wants him to stay at LSU. They really like the support system he has there with the football program.”
Detillier said he is in contact with members of Mathieu’s family.
Mathieu was kicked off LSU’s team last Friday, then visited McNeese later that evening about the possibility of transferring to the school. In the days since, it has been reported that he is interested in staying enrolled at LSU and attempting to rejoin the team next year.
Detillier clarified his quote in an interview with the American Press on Wednesday afternoon.
“He would have been upset no matter (where he went),” Detillier said. “Your mood to go to Lake Charles that day wasn’t in the best manner. No matter where he went, that situation wasn’t going to work well because the framework of time.
“I know how much his aunt and uncle think highly of McNeese and Nicholls. But at that moment in time he wasn’t going to like anywhere because he got humbled.”
Detillier said he knew published reports that Mathieu would make a decision Wednesday were inaccurate.
“I knew it wasn’t going to be (Wednesday),” Detillier said. “I talked to someone pretty close to the family. He wanted time to think things over with. I think by the end of the week something will happen. He can’t let it drag out too long. If it drags out by Friday, you know he’s headed back to LSU.”
Detillier said he believes McNeese has not been ruled out completely. However, late registration at McNeese ends today. Fall semester classes began Wednesday.
“It would surprise me, but it wouldn’t shock me if (LSU) doesn’t work out that he didn’t pay another visit to McNeese because he’s in a totally different frame of mind,” Detillier said. “I’m not saying McNeese isn’t an option, but it’s a much lesser chance than Friday.”

Title: McNeese
Badger moves to Triple A and puts up some huge numbers along with winning a few conf championships then still moves on to the NFl without all the career delay at LSU and collecting a lot of rust sitting out a year and hoping to play Div 1 again with a nonimpresive return.

Title: Badger will not play at LSU
He's permanently ineligible to play football at LSU," Bahnsen said in a telephone interview Monday afternoon. "That's definite. That's what was said Friday."
