A McNeese State University official said that “American Idol” finalist Joshua Ledet approached the university about singing the National Anthem at last week’s football game between the Cowboys and the University of Central Arkansas, despite the singer denying it was his idea.
“We have made our statements about Josh Ledet and the McNeese football game and we stand by them,” Candace Townsend, McNeese’s public relations director, said Monday. “We have nothing else to say on this issue.”
The American Press reported last Tuesday that Townsend had said Ledet approached the university about singing at the game. That same day, Ledet posted on his Twitter account that the article was “lies!” Later, he tweeted the article “was wrong” and he “didn’t approach anyone saying I wanted to sing!”
“If I sing somewhere (it’s) cause I’m asked to do so,” he said in a separate tweet.
The American Press reported on Friday that Ledet’s performance was canceled. Townsend said his management said the appearance was canceled “due to unforeseen circumstances.”
Ledet could not be reached for comment on Monday.
A Westlake native, Ledet finished third on the 11th season of “Idol.” Some of his more well-known renditions during the show were “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” by James Brown and “When a Man Loves a Woman” by Percy Sledge.

Who care if he asked to sing. I would ask to sing, that's an amazing opportunity. Him sayin "If I sing somewhere (it’s) cause I’m asked to do so" is kinda dumb. i mean sure it's nice to be asked to sing somewhere but who cares either freaking way. The man can sing! And i really hope his comment wasn't him being arrogant minded. That would be a disappointment since he is from our small little howetown. But everyone has their flaws. He has a good heart and a good mind. He's not hurting anybody

Title: Mc neese
It didnt take long for it to go to his head. What is so terrible about asking to sing for your local colledge that back him the whole time he was on American Idol. I guess this young man needs to be reminded where he came from. I for one was proud that we had such a nice, christian young man representing our area.

Who REALLY cares???????
I'd rather listen to the McNeese band play our anthem. It's obvious McNeese authorities didn't dream up a guest performance. Sounds like this IDOL lunacy affects judgement.
