Beauregard Parish sheriff’s deputies on Wednesday shot and killed a man near Dry Creek after he tried to run over a deputy, authorities said.

Jacob Navar, 23, earlier in the day had been involved in an incident with his significant other and took her vehicle, said Beauregard Parish Chief Deputy Joe Toler.

Deputies tried to stop Navar, but he fled, he said. They then tried to disable the vehicle by firing at the tires, but Navar continued driving and tried to run over one of the deputies at the scene, Toler said.

At that point, he said, one of the deputies fatally shot Navar.

Toler said state troopers are conducting the investigation.(MGNonline)
