A Lake Charles man has been charged with second-degree murder after allegedly shooting another Lake Charles man early Sunday morning.
Lake Charles Police Department officers were dispatched at about 2 a.m. Sunday to 2706 Allen St. in Lake Charles in reference to a shooting, LCPD spokesman Larry Moss said in a news release.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a man deceased in his front yard. The man was later identified as Wilbert J. LaFleur III.
Richard Moss, 60, was arrested and charged following the initial investigation. Moss was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center. His bond is pending.
“This investigation is ongoing and additional details will be released as they are developed,” Moss said in the news release.
Corporals Mitch Sawyer and Kirk Dugas along with Officer Jeremy Sherman handled the initial investigation. Detectives Colby Thompson and Willie Fontenot are handling the investigation.
