Authorities have arrested the man they think is responsible for an assault that happened early Wednesday morning in McNeese State University’s Zigler Suites, a campus official said.
“We do not believe there is a continuing threat,” said university spokeswoman Candace Townsend.
The suspect isn’t a McNeese student, but officials believe someone in the suites knows him, Townsend said. She said the victim may have known him by sight, but that the two of them aren’t believed to be in a relationship.
Townsend said McNeese is not yet releasing the name of the suspect, and Lake Charles police spokesman Mark Kraus said the name was unavailable.
Authorities are still investigating how the suspect entered the suites, since there was no sign of forced entry, Townsend said. No weapon was involved, she said.
The victim is “fine” and was able to give a thorough statement to police, Townsend said. The incident was first investigated by campus police at about noon and the suspect was later apprehended by Lake Charles police, she said.
