It will be three for the show this time around.

A trio of local volleyball teams advanced to the state championships with victories Monday night.

Barbe (27-8) swept its way into the Division I quarterfinals with a 3-0 win over district rival Comeaux.

Sam Houston needed five games to outlast Assumption on its home court in Division II play.

And St. Louis Catholic, a school that has been to state before, will be looking to win it all this time after knocking off Berwick in four games in Division III action.

SLC will take on third-seeded Ursuline Academy Thursday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner, where all divisions will be played.

The Saints (24-9) got 15 kills from Da’Sha Pitre and 12 kills and six blocks from Annaleigh Drost to beat visiting Berwick 25-16, 20-25, 25-20, 25-10.

Barbe, the 10th seed in its division, beat seventh-seeded Comeaux 25-13, 25-21, 25-10 behind Peyton Montgomery’s 22 kills.

Ebony Lewis had 11 kills and Courtney LaFargue finished with 33 assists.

Barbe will play second-seeded Mt. Carmel Thursday at 8 p.m. in the quarterfinals.

At that same time, Sam Houston will also be playing the second seed in its division on a different court. Lakeshore will be the Broncos’ opponent.

The Broncos earned their trip to the state tournament with a 14-25, 25-18, 25-23, 18-25, 15-13 victory over Assumption.

Carleigh Chaumont led Sam Houston with 14 kills, while Madison Fontenot chipped in 10 kills and Kennedy McLemore notched 36 assists in the match.
