A 42-year-old Lake Charles woman was arrested Tuesday after allegedly hurting an elderly relative, authorities said.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Jennifer D. Demary, 300 Dobbertine Rd., called an 86-year-old female family member Tuesday morning to request a ride.

Myers said Demary later demanded money and the woman's car keys. When the relative refused, Demary pushed her to the ground.

The woman suffered a fractured hip, abrasions to her head and skin tears on her hand, Myers said.

Demary, whose bond was set at $65,000 by Judge Clayton Davis, was charged with second-degree battery and cruelty to the infirm.
