Lake Charles man dies in motorcycle accident

A Lake Charles man died early today in a motorcycle accident on Shell Beach Drive, authorities said.
Chief Deputy Mark Kraus, Lake Charles Police spokesman, said the accident happened around 1 a.m. in the 600 block of Shell Beach Drive. The motorcyclclist, Pete LaFleur, 47 of Lake Charles, was headed west on Shell Beach Drive at Bellevue, when he lost control causing him to run off the road.
Officers are not sure what caused him to lose control, Kraus said.
LaFleur, who was wearing a safety helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cpl. Jason Derise is investigating. Toxicology results are pending at the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office.
It is the fourth fatal motorcycle accident in Southwest Louisiana in the last eight days.
