A 31-year-old Lake Charles man has been charged with aggravated rape, attempted aggravated rape and indecent behavior with juvenile, authorities said.

Sean Demeritt Riggs, 1915 6th St., was arrested at 5 p.m. Wednesday. He is being held on a $300,000 bond.

Lake Charles Police Department spokesman Cpl. Larry Moss said the attempted rape was reported on March 15 while the rape was reported on March 21. Both allegedly happened in the 1500 block on 4th Avenue.

In both incidents, the victim said she was approached by a man with a small folding knife.

“Both victims gave the same physical description for the suspect and one of the victims later observed the suspect walking in the area,” Moss said in a news release. “Detectives were able to obtain the identity of the suspect and Riggs was arrested for both incidents.”
