A 21-year-old Lake Charles man has been charged with possession of stolen property over $500 and flight from an officer, authorities said.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Monaishea T. Minix, 2001 N. Prater St., was arrested in connection with the Aug. 3 burglary of two vehicles on South Beglis Parkway in Sulphur.
“The victims reported that several pieces of stereo equipment, worth over $3,000, had been stolen out of their unlocked vehicles,” Myers said in a news release on Thursday. “During the investigation, detectives were contacted by one of the victims who had discovered that the stereo equipment was placed for sale online.
“After contacting the person selling the stolen items, later identified as Minix, detectives arranged a meeting to view the items. Detectives arrived and confirmed the items were those reported stolen. When detectives attempted to arrest Minix, he resisted and fled on foot. Following a brief pursuit, Minix was apprehended by detectives without incident.”
Myers said that some of the stolen items were recovered and returned to the owners.
Judge Kent Savoie set Minix’s bond at $3,500.
Detective David Doucett was the lead investigator.
