A 44-year-old Lake Charles man already incarcerated at the Calcasieu Correctional Center has been charged with simple burglary, theft under $500 and criminal property damage, authorities said.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said David L. Jenkins, 306 Gelpi Drive, was charged after DNA evidence linked him to the Feb. 4 burglary of a convenience store on Legion Street. Myers said Jenkins was in jail for a previous burglary arrest by the city police.
Judge Clayton Davis set Jenkins’ bond at $6,000.
Detective James Leubner was the lead investigator.
