A 52-year-old Lake Charles man has been charged with attempted armed robbery, city police said.

Deputy Chief Mark Kraus said Doanld Ray Pitre, 801 N. Lincoln St., was arrested Tuesday night.

Kraus said Pitre entered the Valero gas station on La. 171.

“He demanded money from the clerk and threatened her life with a gun if she did not cooperate,” Kraus said Thursday in a news release. “Pitre left the store when two customers entered. He was arrested a short time later by Corporal Romero and Officer Young.”
