Authorities responding to a burglary at a business on Swisco Road saw a man fleeing the business on foot and found his truck parked at the business with the hood still warm and the keys on the seat, said Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kim Myers.
David B. Parker Jr., 25, 2734 Opelousas St., Lake Charles, was arrested and charged with simple burglary, attempted theft over $500, simple criminal damage to property, illegal possession of stolen property, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and resisting an officer by flight, Myers said.
She said Parker was previously convicted of possession of drugs and theft over $500.
Judge Clayton Davis set Parker’s bond at $94,000.
Along with the handgun, a stolen Louisiana license plate was found in Parker’s truck, she said.
Myers said additional charges are expected.
