The Southwest Louisiana Convention and Visitors Bureau compiled a comprehensive report of media mentions surrounding Joshua Ledet and his hometown from Ledet’s Top 7 performance to the present — more than 1,560 written articles that reportedly amounted to $5.6 million worth of publicity.
“Southwest Louisiana received national coverage such as Entertainment Weekly, which stated, ‘My favorite hometown heroes segment had to be Joshua Ledet’s. I thought he really came alive once he landed in Westlake, Louisiana. This place had everything,’ ” Kaylen Fletcher, public relations manager at the bureau, said by email.
Coverage included stories in The Times-Picayune, Houston Chronicle and San Antonio Express News, and more than 65 Louisiana and Texas media outlets attended the Homecoming Pep Rally, Fletcher said.
The American Press mentioned Ledet an estimated 75 times, according to the paper’s archives.
“It would not have been possible without the support from the entire community helping make this one of the largest nationally publicized events for Calcasieu Parish and one Joshua and his family will never forget,” she said in a news release.
