Louisiana Economic Development has launched a new marketing campaign — Come Home, Louisiana — to funnel workers back to the state.

LED is touting new employment opportunities, especially the ones related to the economic boom in Southwest Louisiana.

Come Home, Louisiana is linked to LED’s new website, www.LouisianaJobConnection.com, which matches the skills of job seekers with the best available jobs.

Current Louisiana residents are asked to participate in the campaign by liking or sharing Come Home, Louisiana on Facebook.

Come Home, Louisiana will include a postcard campaign for current residents to encourage friends and family members to return home for food, family and fulfilling careers using specially marked postcards, the website reads.

For more than 25 years, Louisiana has been exporting jobs to other states like Texas and Georgia, said RB Smith, Vice President of Workforce Development at the Southwest Louisiana Economic Development Alliance.

“Now with the opportunities that we have with the economic boom that’s coming to Southwest Louisiana the opportunities are back here in their hometown,” Smith said. “We’re trying to reach out to ex-patriots of Southwest Louisiana. Through this website we can try to match them with a good job and get them back home.”

LED launched LouisianaJobConnection.com in June. So far, the site has more than 12,000 jobs seekers and under 1,000 employers posting available positions.
