CBS will televise the Nov. 8 LSU-Alabama game, but the Tigers will still play a tenth straight night game for the first time in school history.

The network, which gets its choice of the week’s premier SEC game, normally does its broadcasts at 2:30 p.m.

But CBS has a doubleheader that weekend, and the LSU-Bama game in Tiger Stadium will start at 7 p.m. following the Auburn-Texas A&M game in the 2:30 p.m. slot.

It will be eighth straight season that CBS will televise the Tide and Tigers and fourth straight year the game will be in prime time.

The Tigers, (7-2, 3-2 SEC) will have an open date this week following their third straight victory last Saturday, a 10-7 upset over Ole Miss.

Alabama (7-1, 4-1) also has a bye this week.

The SEC Network also announced that “SEC Nation” — its version of ESPN’s “GameDay” — will originate from the LSU campus the morning of the Alabama game.

Game Day originated from LSU last week and set up on the Parade Grounds. But SEC Nation will set up just west of the Carl Maddox Field House closer to the stadium.

LSU, unranked two weeks ago, moved up to No. 16 in the AP writers poll, No. 17 in the USA Today coaches’ poll.

With the Texas A&M game on Thanksgiving Day already scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in College Station, it leaves the Tigers with only one chance to play a day game in the regular season.

No time has yet been announced for the Nov. 15 game at Arkansas and won’t be until television plans are finalized.

LSU learned Monday that the school will only be out $5,000 in the wake of students rushing the field after the Ole Miss victory. That’s the minimum fine under the SEC rules. It’s the first time LSU has had to pay up since the conference policy went into effect in 2002.

Also, LSU officials clarified that freshman defensive tackle Devon Godchaux, will face no further penalties after being ejected from Saturday’s game.

He was ejected for picking up a second unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

That offense is different from ejections for “targeting,” which carry over to the next game.

LSU also announced that head coach Les Miles’ mother, Martha, who died Friday at the age of 91, will have a private funeral ceremony. The school released no other details.(MGNonline)
