The body of a Lake Charles man was recovered from the lake early Sunday morning after reports that he fell overboard from a boat, officials said.
The incident occurred at about 11 p.m. Saturday night. Officials with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office interviewed witnesses and learned that he did not resurface once he fell off the 35-foot-long Cabin Cruiser yacht without a life jacket.
The body of 45-year-old George Dixon Jr. was recovered from Lake Charles at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Rescue crews used sonar technology to locate the body.
The body was turned over to the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.
LDWF will handle the boating incident investigation.
“Right now, we will continue to investigate, and once we get some information back from the Coroner’s Office ... we will compile that information,” said Lt. Beau Robertson, enforcement agent.
