JENNINGS — Authorities are searching for two suspects who robbed the Walgreens at gunpoint late Saturday.
The suspects entered the stored, located at 1804 Elton Road, shortly after 9:30 p.m., according to Deputy Chief Danny Semmes.
“One of the suspects turned as he reached the front door and fired a shot in the direction of the clerks before they fled the store with an undetermined amount of cash,” he said.
The suspects were last seen heading north in what police say may be a green or gray Pontiac or other GM-type vehicle with a sunroof with tape on it.
Several employees and customers were in the store at the time of the armed robbery but were not injured, Semmes said.
“The store was in the process of closing for the night, but had a few customers in the store and a few had just left,” he said.
Police officers were on the scene in less than two minutes and canvased the area, but were unable to locate the suspects, Semmes said.
The suspects are described as two black males. One was dressed in a bright-color pink or orange shirt with bright pants and hat. The other was wearing a light-colored shirt and khaki pants with a fishing hat. Neither made an attempt to disguise themselves, Semmes said.
Police are also looking for a witness who may help identify the suspects’ vehicle. The witness is described as a white male wearing a bright Pop-A-Lock t-shirt.
Police ask anyone with information about the suspects or who may have seen the vehicle in the area to call the tip line at 337-275-9002.
