Jennings, St. Louis win

SULPHUR — The second game of the SPOT Therapy/Billy Navarre Chevrolet Jamboree Thursday night was a defensive battle with Jennings pulling off a 7-3 win over Sam Houston.

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">Sam Houston got inside the Bulldogs’ 20-yard line twice but managed only a 28-yard field goal by Jonathon Ewing with 6:10 left in the first half.</span>

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">Jennings’ Travis Etienne was held to 35 yards on nine carries but had a 63-yard touchdown run — in which he bowled over four defenders — called back on a holding call just before halftime. He scored on a 13-yard run with 2:54 left in the first half.</span>

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">Sam Houston outgained Jennings 147-110 but had four penalties for 50 yards.</span>

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">On the third play of the game, St. Louis senior defensive lineman Sam Bruchhaus intercepted W-M quarterback Marquez Chagois and returned it 17 yards to the end zone.</span>

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">St. Louis led 20-0 at halftime thanks to a 13-yard pass from Bailey Hardy to Patrick Lavergne and a 2-yard run by Logan Loftin.</span>

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">Hardy threw a 29-yard touchdown to Conner Williams in the second half and finished with 61 yards on 4-for-5 passing.</span>

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">The Charging Indians avoided the shutout on a 26-yard run by Jacoby Taylor midway through the second half. Taylor finished with 102 yards on eight carries.</span>
