Jeff Davis Fair rolls into town

JENNINGS — The Jeff Davis Parish Fair returns through Oct. 4 with carnival rides, games, livestock shows and food booths.

The fairgrounds open at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2  for judging of agriculture and homemaking exhibits and booths.

The queen’s pageant will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2 featuring juniors and seniors from area high schools vying for the coveted crown.

Festivities continue on Friday, Oct. 3 with School Day. All parish schools will be closed to allow students to attend the festivities.

All livestock, poultry and rabbits must be in the barn 6-10 a.m. Judging begins at noon.

The annual fair parade rolls at 9 a.m. Deadline for all entries, except bicycles and horses, is 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26.

The parade will line up at James Ward Elementary School at the corner of North Main Street and Shankland Avenue and continue south on Main.

4-H and Future Farmers of America members will showcase their work during the livestock shows held throughout the day.

Needlework demonstrations will be 10 a.m.-noon. in the multipurpose building.
