The Children’s Museum will hold Imagination Celebration, its annual adults-only fundraiser, at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, in the Lake Charles Civic Center exhibition hall.
“It helps keep our doors open, provides money for special programs, get entertainers throughout the year, keeps our arts space going, as well as keeping our admission rates low,” said Allyson Montgomery, museum assistant director.
“It also helps us provide field trips to programs throughout the year to different schools in the five-parish area, as well to schools in Southeast Texas.”
This year’s theme celebrates the days of polyester and pet rocks as Imagination Celebration in Funky Town, and people are encouraged to wear fashions of the time. Music, provided by Mark Russell of The Other Blues Brothers, will be of the disco era.
The event will include silent and live auctions. The live auction will be hosted by Hal McMillin. Items will include works by artists Julie Dallas, Candice Alexander and Eddie Mormon; a gas grill; several trips; spa packages; and purses.
The master of ceremonies will be Phil de Albuquerque. Mazen’s, Pujo Street Cafe and Desserts at L’Auberge, as well as a crew from Coushatta Casino Resort, will bring signature dishes for people to try.
Fewer than 100 tickets are available for sale at the museum and will be available at the door.
