19-year-old Katelyn Johnson, a local musician who has an already robust musical resume, will perform with her band in her first acoustic show tonight at the Cigar Club.

Johnson, the first woman to both perform for a boxing event and participate in the event itself, has been playing with her band in Louisiana or Texas each weekend for two years.

The band plays country, Southern rock and classic rock and has dabbled in blues and jazz. It also performs original songs. The band’s original, “Twist Off,” has been played on radio stations in Texas, Florida and Washington, and has been heard on three stations out of Lafayette.

Johnson has opened for artists such as Exile, Eddy Raven, Jo-El Sonnier, Jo Stampley, Travis Matte & the Kingpins, Judd Baras & the Six String Rodeo and Jamie Bergeron.

She has also been endorsed by NASCAR clothing store “Pit Road Bass.”

More information about Johnson can be found at her website, www.myspace.com/katelyn_d_johnson
