Hiring Our Heroes job fair set for Tuesday

The Lake Charles Civic Center will host a career fair for veterans, active-duty military members, Guard and Reserve members and military spouses 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, in its Exhibition Hall.
Dubbed “Hiring Our Heroes,” the job fair will be for both employers and job seekers.
“We’re trying to find meaningful careers and show respect to these veterans,” said R.B. Smith, vice president of workforce development for the Southwest Louisiana Economic Development Alliance. “Military veterans are dependable, drug-free, skilled and they want to work.”
Smith expects 50 employers, including those in the construction, heavy industry, and banking and finance fields.
There will be registration on-site, but Smith said he encourages veterans to preregister online. Smith urged veterans bring up to 20 resumes to the fair.
