Four take top honors in accordion championship

JENNINGS — The eighth annual Cajun Squeezebox Shootout Accordion Championship returned to the Strand Theater on Saturday to help launch local Mardi Gras celebrations.

Trinity Broussard won the adult division. Tommie Guidry was second, then Gary Usie. In the professional division, Steve Riley was the winner. Bryce Estay won the junior division, with Luke Huval taking second. Darrien Constantine was third.

Bubba Hebert won first place in the youth division. He was the only contestant.

The 12 contestants from throughout the state showcased their skills for the judges and had the audience tapping their toes to the sounds of Cajun music.

Nearly $3,000 in cash prizes and trophies were awarded.
