WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Police say a woman was severely burned after being doused in gasoline and lit on fire outside a 7-Eleven store in South Florida in a dispute with the father of her child, police said.

Boynton Beach Police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater says the 34-year-old woman was waiting in her car at a 7-Eleven shortly before 3 a.m. Monday. She was meeting her ex and picking up her 4-year-old son.

A police affidavit says 52-year-old Roosevelt Mondesi is charged with first-degree attempted murder. Police say he arrived without the boy and began throwing gasoline on the unidentified woman's car and body. She tried to run away, but police said he chased her with a knife and then ignited her.
