Special to the American Press

The First Friday Reading Series presents poetry and fiction reading by Sarah Heying and Mila Tangier at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at the Porch Coffee House. The Porch partnered with the Arts & Humanities Council to present this reading series, which features poets and writers on the first Friday of each month.

The Porch will also host a writer’s open mic session following the reading.

Heying is pursuing her MFA in creative writing at McNeese State University. She spends most of her free time writing fiction and reviewing submissions for the Ostrich Review. Tangier earned her bachelor’s degree from Eugene Lang College in New York and is presently a graduate candidate in the MFA program at McNeese. She has two poems forthcoming in the fall issue of Quiddity.

The Porch, at 4710 Common St., offers live music following each reading. For more about the reading series, contact the Arts Council at 439-2787 or visit www.artsandhumanitiesswla.org.
