SLAUGHTER (AP) — An early morning fire has destroyed the Monolyte Laboratories, Inc. facility in Slaughter.
Police Chief Walter Smith says one of his officers was flagged down around 1:30 a.m. Monday and told of what appeared to be fire and smoke coming from the Monolyte facility.
Smith says no one was at the plant at the time of the fire.
The facility is a biochemical research center that deals with mostly environmentally friendly chemicals.
Smith says the cause of the fire is being investigated.
