NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Authorities say a fire has damaged an iconic New Orleans bar, but there were no immediate reports of injuries.

WWL-TV reported that the fire broke out at F&M Patio Bar just before 3 a.m. Saturday. The New Orleans Fire Department says the one-alarm fire was under control within about 30 minutes.

The extent of the damage was not immediately known.

The bar, named for John “Fump” Flynn and Manny Guillot, first opened as a bar in 1905 and was a dance hall in the 1930s. It has attracted an eclectic crowd ever since.

It gained some of its fame in the 1950s and 1960s when the owners rented out the hall as a spot for dances where music legends Irma Thomas and Deacon John performed.
