State to appeal after federal judge delays execution date

Last Modified: Thursday, February 07, 2013 8:24 PM

BATON ROUGE (AP) — The Louisiana Department of Corrections will appeal a federal judge's injunction that stalls the execution of a DeSoto Parish man for the beating and scalding death of his 6-year-old stepson.

But Wade Shows, a lawyer for the department, says there will be no attempt to keep the execution scheduled for next week as planned. Instead, Shows says the state will seek to reschedule the lethal injection for another time.

U.S. District Judge James Brady ruled Thursday that state corrections officials have given Christopher Sepulvado too little information about the drug that will be used in the lethal injection and the methods involved in carrying out the execution.

Brady says without that information, lawyers for Sepulvado cannot protect his constitutional right against cruel and unusual punishment.

Title: I know this man

He has been evil all his life. His first child, his own blood, died of "unknown causes" as an infant. He had a history of abusing women, even his own mother.

The longer he waits the more time he has to contemplate not only what he did but the fact that it will happen soon.

Title: What's Wrong With America Youo Say?!?!

What's wrong with America you say?!? Well, it's not gun control is it?! It's a judicial/justice system that is flawed and is more interested in protecting the rights of convicted criminals than the rights of victims and law abiding citizens! Here's one for the Prosecutor. Forget the lethal injection and just use a single bullet to shoot--or good stiff rope to hang this poor under priviledged "convicted" killer.
In the meantime, would someone please tell the Judge in this case that the eaqsy fix would simply be to say, "if you want to impose the sentence as handed down, then you have to use the normal mixture of three drugs instead of the one proposed. Otherwise, hit him with one three times and let's move on to the next."
